Taking suggestions...

I love having my own kitchen to do whatever I want with. The previous owners did update it, but it is still a little too white for me. So I need ideas for adding color without re-doing the whole kitchen! :) The first picture is of the custom blinds (above our kitchen sink and in the breakfast nook) but I am not crazy in love with , but they are still better than nothing, so I am willing to add splashes of whatever! Lets just say I do not love red but love greens and really love blue (but can it be done?). So lets hear your ideas!

I have a Benjamin Moore paint wheel that I can read off some colors I like. I like the green idea...maybe you can do a soft green. What kind of light does it get your kitchen. Windows face what direction N, S, E, W also what is the overhead light...flourescent, halogen etc etc. That all has an effect on color. I have a pretty white kitchen, dark wood floors and pale blue walls. So why is blue out of the question?? Just because of the curtains?

1.yes please help me with my blog!

2. We may or may not paint...definately not out of the question because of the curtians to put other colors in. The curtians are not loud colors. I really do not like all the white tiles on the backsplash of my counters (not too fond of the countertop either) but since we are going to only be in this home like 4 years we do not want to put tons into it, but enjoy it while we are here and perhaps make something off our updates.:)

Well, at least it is white and not some loud annoying color that doesn't blend easy.

So I will email you about the blog.

I may be the only one that likes your custom blinds. I love rich colors. Golds, reds, dark browns; etc. There is so much you can do with your kitchen! Accessories, for one can change anything and of course, paint. Hmmm...I don't know about blue with the shades, but I'll be thinking :-)

hmmm... you're talking to someone who LOVES red! But, i think you can definately add color, blue included. In fact, that shower curtain i have from PB has red, tan, green, and mostly blue. I also like a pale creamy yellow with those colors. What if you paint just one wall the greenish color, leaving the other walls that beige color? Not sure if that is even possible, but just a thought.

Ok...I should rephrase...I don't loathe red I just don't love it, and I do like the custom curtians...so they will stay !:)

Wow, I like your kitchen! I'm jealous! :) I want white (distressed) cabinents and I love the black counter top! I also love the custom blinds. I think adding green would look great, and as everyone said, you could paint. I see you already have some accessories that are green (framed picture, Kitchen aid, towls, etc.) so you're already on your way. Adding blue might be a little much, since it's not already in the fabric, on the wall, etc. But green is a great possibility.

Okay, I'm not a fan of red either, but I do like the custom roman shades. I agree with Beth, accessories are a great way to add color.

I wasn't meaning put blue with those curtains...I was meaning if you really love blue ditch the curtains.

I think you can do a dark red and pale blue together. That is actually a pretty popular color combination right now. But the beige/green of the curtain wouldn't work with that. It would look yucky.

I think the curtains are cute in and of themselves but if you don't LOVE them and they are preventing you from doing what you want why keep them? But if you like them there are so many possibilities you can do. So did you find out your lighting at least the natural light because that has a HUGE effect on the color you choose. It can change a color so much.
