Here's one for you....

Today in the car Maxwell asks:
"Mommy, how did Liam get out of your tummy?"
Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...

I've already been asked this one and since he does have a sister he knows that boys and girls are different...so it was slightly easier to tell him in a general way. Luckily, no more questions were asked :)

Isn't it amazing how those questions always catch you off-guard? I am thankful that Silas still just comments on the fact that Ruthanne is "out of mommy's belly now!" and doesn't ask questions like that yet. I'm sure my day is coming though. :)

I remember thinking about this very deeply when my sister was born and was very confused about it. My mom told me something to the effect that "God prepares a special place for the baby to come out" or something. I knew that only girls could have babies and I remember looking all over my body trying to figure out how a baby would come out. Specifically, trying to decide if God opened up one's side for the baby to slip out. That was the only place that made sense at the time.

Anne thats an easy one! Just say, "the same way you did silly" and then tart driving crazy so he is distracted and forgets the question, plus driving crazy is fun.

Note: I only recommend this for kids who are easily distracted and who will not be emotionally scared by crazy driving. For all other children I recommend burning something, seriously what kid doesn't like fire more than tummies???

Same as Beth for us. Since mine are girls, I just told them in a general way. Plus, I'd let them watch some very modest episodes of "A Baby Story" before Savannah was born.

By the way, what did you end up saying? :)

Can you tell I was in medical stuff in college.....I just told my boys. Pushed you or he or she out. Kinda like when you poop only it hurts lots more and it is in a different spot. Both my boys constantly tell me they are glad that they are boys. HA HA. Now when Seth asked the question...."I understand how I am half of you mom because I was in your tummy but how exactly am I half of Dad"....that one threw me off. HEE HEE.

Wait, wait...what did you say?? Jack hasn't asked that yet, but he did get very upset recently when we tried to gently and generally explain to him and Ellie that they have different "parts." He insisted that he did NOT have a "P" but rather that he, too, had a "V," which made me laugh and then he got upset that I laughed. Oops. I'm going to be awesome at this...good LORD.

haha. I laughed and changed the conversation.
Yeah. I'm a great Mom...err...
I told him they cut my tummy open to get him out (he was born via c-section) but Evan and Liam came out a different way. He didn't ask how after that. If he asks again I will probably just be honest like Bethany was. :)
