So my friend Melody SOMEHOW convinced her husband Chad to do the cloth diaper thing but I was still not convinced. And since she received them last week, it's all the rage. :) Don't get me wrong I don't mind hearing about them but I swore cloth diapers off the moment I caught a glance at a Mom changing one before I had children of my own. It looked complicated and just plain messy. I just want to change the babe and get that nastiness outta there. You know what I'm sayin'? As long as we can afford it I'm NOT into the cloth thing.
Here is the thing, I hate to admit it but cloth diapers have come a LOOONNNGG way. Gone are the pins and wrapping this way and that, soaking diapers in buckets and so on. Sure, there are Moms out there that do that but this Mom can't. Mucho Kudos to those who can, it just isn't in me.
So, Mel whips out her newest baby purchase to show to me and I have to admit I was {pleasantly} surprised.
I went home and spent the next day researching...and we are doing it.
I've ordered a starter kit, and we'll see how it goes. It isn't entirely cloth diapering but it IS way more environmentally friendly and in the end will cost me considerably less that disposables...I'll let you know the brand I chose, my method and how it works after I receive my shipment.
I cannot believe I'm giving this a go. I NEVER thought I would.
Never say Never I guess.
Thinking Green over here.
more to come...

I cant wait to hear what you think. Ive considered them before but always chicken out. Id love to hear your thoughts. Maybe my number three will be green...
hudson will be two this fall. yours look cute, but i think this house will stay jerks to the environment just a little bit longer.
i bet they really are not that bad- i've seen them on martha etc. very trendy indeed!

Way to go Anne!! I'm excited to hear the details... for when I need to know. :)
Apparently yu can use their poo in your compost if you really want to go green!!! Atleast that is what a girl at work tells me
The convincing element to Mel's new diapers is that I don't have to change them. Maybe it is laziness, but I said "go for it." Although she did say that, the reason it works well for us is that it is going to save use money. I like to tell my friends that I have gone green, but lets face it my carbon footprint is already to big to repair!
I'm so proud I could cry ... not really. But I am impressed you're willing to try it! Don't let Chad fool you, we're doing it to save moola (being "green" is only an added benefit I guess) -- not to mention all those nasty chemicals no longer soaking on my girls' bottoms.
You know we'll never let you live this down ...
thats so great, ann. i can't even tell you how much $ its saved us to cloth diaper the girls. we use "prowraps" and "prefolds" -- the most economical option, it seems, and works great for us. honestly the wash isn't a big deal -- john usually does it. good luck!!!
ah! i can't believe i just spelled your name wrong. sorry, annE!!!! :)
I almost got those with Adelee....but I am the girl that sometimes throws away underwear when potty training. No go for me. I have other ways of being green.
Good luck! I, like others here, am too chicken to try cloth diapers. I'll be watching for updates as to how things are going!
Anne, I'm curious to see how this goes for you. I've been considering it for sometime now but haven't gotten up the courage to give it a shot. I'll be checking back for updates!
Which brand did you go with? I'd like to do this if we have more kiddos. With twins, I decided disposable diapers would be my one convenience! But I have friends who rave about them, and I'd love to not buy diapers several times a month!
