more "expert" advice on the swine flu

Quotes from world renown swine flu expert : my husband, Justin:

"People are coming to me for supplies. You should see my desk, face masks, rubber gloves, sanitizer. I'm set."

" At lunch I told everybody to wash their hands! Sneezing and snot everywhere! If everyone was serious about washing their hands, and take this pandemic seriously, we'd be golden!"

"I've become a champion on opening doors with my butt. If I had no arms, I'd already be an expert."

the swine flu. A guide to survival.

source:www.buisinessweek.com

Ever since Justin heard about the swine flu, let's just say he's been a little obsessed over it. He won't stop talking about it, and at this point it has gotten pretty humorous to me.

THE GUY IS WHACK. So without further ado here is:

Justin's swine flu survival guide

1. Sanitize/wash your hands every half hour
2. If you can, DO NOT leave your house.
3. If you leave your house, don't touch anything in public!
4. Always carry sanitizer with you...you never know when someone will sneeze on you.
5.Stay away from gyms because nobody cleans off their machine and you will FOR SURE catch it there!
6.If you touch something in public make sure you sanitize right away.
7. Purchase an outdoor shower so that when you come to your home you can clean off before entering it so that your home is a "safe haven"
8. If you have a sore throat...see your doctor RIGHT away. It's swine flu FOR SURE.
9. If you are not panicing...you should be.
10. The paper masks are useless...might as well go ahead and purchase the haz-mat suit.
Justin also keeps saying that if he happens to die from the swine flu that I should not worry or cry about his death.
Lord help me.

modesty.

"My concern today is that it seems like a lot of Christian women are oblivious to the fact that they have some measure of responsibility here. I say it carefully though, because I know that some women would turn the issue back on men as if it is their own problem.
But I know that a sincere Christian woman would not have that attitude. A Christian woman would respond, "Really? I didn't know. Please, tell me what the issue is here." She wants to serve her brothers, and her brothers want to serve her. The brothers don't want to put her under any artificial constraints and she wants to serve them. So there ought to be dialogue about this. " -JOHN PIPER

We SHOULD NOT be consumed with how we look, and at the same time we do need to be careful about how we dress...be concerned with modesty...and that's all.

this one.

Evan,
This morning you came downstairs and climbed up next to me while I was doing my devotions. You lovingly stroked my arm {you are such a cuddly little guy!} and asked;

"Mama? Did you sweep {sleep} good last night?"

Sheesh you can be so sweet sometimes.
I Love you.

Mama.

so proud.

just. , originally uploaded by olives on a monday.

Today my sweet husband came home and casually mentioned he got a promotion and a raise!
WHA?!
Needless to say, I'm SO proud of him. He works VERY hard, and I'm so happy to have him as my husband.
I'm also VERY thankful. I know many have lost jobs or have had to take pay cuts. We have truly been blessed, and I hope we can use this extra income to be able to help others who may need it.
We also {happily} are staying put. Last week Justin was at a Leadership conference and they asked him to take a position in Maryland, and after prayerful consideration we decided to stay where we were for now. It would be SO HARD to leave our church and {amazing} friends right now.
I LOVE you Just...and I'm SO proud and thankful for you!

Beyond my understanding...

What's with Bed, Bath and BEYOND?

I hAtE that store.

LOATHE it.
I tried a few times to like it, but I've pretty much concluded that I won't be going back.

I went today to get a shower liner that we replace like every 6 months. I usually buy the same one at Target that cost $7.99. I got a coupon {I'm sure they are trying to get me to shop there since I bought a spatula there like 4 years ago} and so I thought I'd get a steal. NO. The cheapest one they had {which was also the same as the Target one I might add} was $19.99.

Ridiculous...and WHAT a waste of time. I hated every second that I was in there {am I dramatic or what?} Why did I stray from Target? SHAME on me.

Seriously. These 3 reasons alone are enough to keep me away from the place {and next time I think about going I'm going to remind myself of this post}:

1. TOO much stuff packed in there...I mean it is comparable to a Wal-mart. It actually might be worse. There is so much "as seen on TV" stuff in there I feel like I'm in an infomercial.

2. A good percentage (I'd go so far to say 75% of it) is just junk. There are WAY too many knick-knack {patty-whacks} in there. I cannot STAND seeing anymore of those "inspirational sayings" painted on cheap plywood with some corny artwork that I could probably paint. There are WAY cooler ways to have quotes/Bible verses to hang in your home. The artwork they do have that is decent is overpriced. SO annoying.
Oh! And what is with the peppers (or whatever that is) in the glass jar for display all about? They have a {ka}billion of those for sale and I just kind of want to throw up in my mouth a little when I see them. They really don't look cool...and I just don't get it. Am I missing something?

3. Overpriced{ junk}.
They may have a few good kitchen items, but towels and bedding...NO WAY would I ever buy from there. The place is a TOTAL rip off...coupon or not. I think if I got a giftcard from there I'd give it away. Obviously somebody likes the place because they are still open.

So... I won't be back. I don't even want to think about the place again....next time I go by one, I will be going BEYOND...the store.

ps- I know it's not Monday so I really should't have complained today...but SHEESH.
ON to tommorow, and a HAPPIER post.

On Jon & Kate plus 8.

mmmmmm....kay.
So, I was deleting some old drafts I had begun and never amounted to anything and came across a post I wrote in April of 2007 about the show Jon & Kate plus 8. There were 30 comments of which I had never read about 20 of! Most of them were fine but there were a few of which the language I'd prefer not to read.
Anyway.
In the post I stated my love for this new show and for the first two seasons I tuned in when I could. It was interesting to watch Jon & Kate interact and raise their 8 {very young} kids. The kids were cute and we all sympathized with Jon and Kate struggling to keep the kids cleaned and fed. and I’m not exactly sure when it all changed but what used to be an enjoyable reality show evolved into a monster.

Today the sextuplets are 5, and the twins are 9 {I think}...but I've actually stopped watching the show.
The way Kate treats her husband is a little too much for me to handle anymore. She is disrespectful and many times just downright mean to him.
I used to say that if any of us were being filmed like that it wouldn't be pretty either, I mean we are all sinners after all, and I sympathize with the fact that they have a lot of work on their hands but that is no excuse.

I just don't think it is good {or healthy} to watch anymore. In fact I actually watched a show on the same channel {tlc} called 18 kids and counting, and I the children are very sweet, and respectful to their parents, the husband and wife are very kind to each other. While they are probably precieved as "dorky homeschoolers" by many, they are a VERY sweet family. Of course they are still sinners too, and they have their problems to deal with I just appreciate the respect and kindness the family shows to one another. It is refreshing.
sigh.
If it were up to me I'd get rid of our TV. We do enjoy ESPN though, so alas it stays.

For the sake {and health} of their marriage and for some privacy for their children perhaps the Gosselins should call it a wrap.
And that's my take on that.

4 months.

Yup.
The L-man is 4 months already.
...and yes my floor is messy.
