Jon & Kate...plus 8!

I don't really watch that much TV but on Monday nights Justin plays basketball so I use it as our do nothing night. Tonight I tuned in to TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8 (thanks for telling me about it Nicole!) for the second Monday in a row.

Jon and Kate Gosselin wanted to have kids but after some testing Kate found out she did not ovulate. So the did fertility treatments and soon were pregnant with twin girls! A year later and Kate loved being Mom so much they thought they would adopt. When things were going way too fast they decided to wait on the adoption. Jon saw how sad Kate was not to be Mom again tht he agreed to do fertility treatments again. Soon they were pregnant again...but this time with 6! The doctor told them they could talk about "reduction" as they were both in tears when they found out how many there were! But they said, "No way!"

The show followed her pregnancy, (I have NEVER seen a belly get so big, and I thought I got big!) and up to today...the sextuplets will be 2 in May. They are a hillarious couple who stick together as a team to make it with their eight children. They relate to each other like Justin and I, and I think that makes me just love this show. The Mom, Kate is a little OCD and the Dad, Jon takes longer than Kate to get ready in the morning!

I am truly amazed though, they do it! They really do it on their own. It is chaotic at times but she is organized and has a plan, and it is working. The kids are simply adorable, and watching them all relate is fun to watch!

I'm so glad you got to watch it! Isn't it absolutely amazing what they are able to do? i couldn't even imagine. I have told so many people about the show.

A lady at work told me about the show. Crazy! Twins then pregnant with sextuplets! Yikes! But she too said that the mother was super organized and it was so clear they all really had a great time together. That's neat.

They were on Dr. Phil yesterday. He is giving them 6 months of nanny's to help them out for three days of every week. He is also giving them $3000.00 worth of toys to help the kids to stop fighting and hitting on each other for toys.

I've heard of the show (watched a little bit of it before bed once) and I saw them on Dr. Phil yesterday. While I'm not sure giving them 3000 dollars of toys SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO SHARE, is exactly a good idea, I'm glad he's able to help them out.

I really admire them a lot. They do work great together.

If I had 6 children the same age, I'd praise the Lord above for giving me $3000 so that they all don't have to share the same toy! I think that's the point - so that they don't have to fight all the time over the same toy that they love. A little mercy that would seem huge to me!

I can't wait to start watching the show, thanks for the plug, Anne! And, I'm always a big TLC fan!

Sorry, I did not mean to stir up any trouble. I was just thinking that 3k is a huge blessing, and probably a huge relief to not have to keep breaking up fights. However, two things immediately concerned me. 1) Human nature will still make them want what they don't have. So, unless they buy the same toy for every one, there could still be sharing issues, and 2) with 8 kids, sharing is a not a convenience so much as a necessity. If the kids always have their own toys, it might cause trouble when they go to school and are expected to share and are used to having their own set of toys, etc. Maybe these are not issues at all. Also, I was upset about something else I saw on the show and disagreed with, so maybe I was still a little worked up. ;)

They seem like amazing parents and I'm sure they will instill in their children the joy of sharing. I was just intially struck with the thought of "That's not teaching them to share!"

Again, I apologize. My tone must have come across exactly how I did NOT want it to. Sorry! :( Please forgive me.

Oh I saw this show and loved it. Did you see the follow up when the plastic surgeon did the tummy tuck. I felt so happy for her it looked amazing when it was done. And then the show showed the kids a little older. Amazing.

Sarah no offense taken.

Bridgette! I cannot wait to touch base with you!

Bethany, the show was SO great! I was so glad she got the plastic surgery too! :)

This is a fabulous show. I love watching this show because it gives me great tips on how to be a good mom. I love seeing this entertaining family. God, sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but then I think of Kate!

I really think Kate should try being herself and stop acting like she's all that.. and thank God she has the husband she does, seeing that this was her idea to have all these kids....

Take this show off the air please. The most superficial,(kids wearing gap shirts??) pathetic display of parenting ever. ITs time to focus on real parents with real issues.

I love Jon, but Kate is a real bitch, especially to him. Those twins are the most obnoxious spoiled brats, but I have never honestly met twin girls that weren't. The sextuplets are adorable, but they will probably grow up to act like their twin sisters who act like their mom--genetice!

I love the show. I admire both Kate and Jon. I applaud them for not opting for selective reduction. God blessed them with 6 healthy babies. Whatever the relationship between Jon and Kate is, it works for them. Remember the show gets edited. Also alittle advise to those viewers that do not like the show, or find Kate bitchy, or the kids annoying. Do what I do when something comes on that I don't like, turn the channel.

I like the show a lot too. The kids are adorable and so sweet, well except for Mady who seems to be suffering perpetual PMS at the age of 7? Ick. But it's kind of no wonder this child is this way, when Kate makes me want to scream sometimes with her controlling, micro managing, condescending ways. Is it really that serious that the girls wear a particular shoe with their outfits? Or the way she nags and bosses around Jon.. I wish he would stand up for himself more. He does a lot for the kids too, on top of working full time. I watch it for the kids but Kate really gets on my nerve sometimes.

I like the show a lot, but the BRAT MADDIE gets on my nerves a lot. She needs a good old fashioned spanking. Also, Kates hair is a mess. She has it hanging in her face most of the time. Not attractive and she could be. I saw her once with it cut into bangs. NOT hanging all over her face.....Please do something about that brat kid and your hair Kate.....

This show is a wonderful form of birth control because 8 whining kids certainly would make me not want children, and Kate...what a total bitch..I honestly hope Jon says screw it and gets divorced. Well he has the last laugh...not one of those children looks anything like Kate! There is justice in this world!

Although not of your generation,(71) I love this show and especially Kate. We need more moms/wives like her. Jon loves and cherishes her and their children. He is the perfect match for her. Maddy needs professional help to help her find inner peace, happiness and her own unique place in this overwhelming family.

Sorry any of your subscribers needed to be so bitchy.
I have 4 children very close together and found it stressful when they were small.
The constant demand for attention, conflicting demands, fatigue, sleepless night etc. take a toll.
It is a wonder Kate has not had a breakdown or other serious health problems herself.
She may appear snappy, controlling atc. but who would not be, in that deamnding situation

I'm sorry, I usually just read these blogs, but I feel like I must say something, to the person who said that Jon should just "screw it and get a divorce" WTF?! Maybe thats how you roll, but I think that Jon is a better man for not doing that. How many dads would stick around through the stress of it all!?
I absolutely love this show, and I think that is a very common way for a month of young children to act. Its stressful and sometimes you just snap, i do it and I only have 2 kids! I applaud them for all their effort, I love their show. Obviously, those of you commenting on how awful her parenting is, do not have children! Get a clue, and if you don't like it don't watch! Also IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!

Hard not to watch it when TLC rams this pathetic whine-fest down our throats with promo after promo. 30 seconds of watching that bitch Kate is enough for me! Run Jon Run! And I will say whatever the hell I want!

Kate is a whore slut whining crying bitch. Hell Jon is a punk for letting her treat him that way. He needs to take those kids and find a woman who appreciates him. Better yet, leave those annoying ass twins and take a couple of the other ones from the litter. Yes litter. Kate is a bitch which = animal and she is dog

Anonymous said...

Seriously Charles? Somebody sounds like they have anger issues.
But anyways I don't understand how anybody can comment on Kate's behavior especially sounding like some of these people do. You guys sound more bitchy than Kate ever has. I feel like she is a great mother but is she perfect? Of course not! Nobody is so after somebody goes through the whole having twins and then sextuplets and spending EVERY day raising them I think you should probably back off a little bit

I like this show because it makes me realize how blessed I am. I'm so happy I don't have kids!!! YAY!!

Anonymous said...

P.S. And I don't want them!!

I absolutely refuse to watch this show any more because of Kate. She is so disrespectful to Jon. Maddy is spoiled and needs some limits. The littlest ones are sweet and charming children and lets hope they take after Jon. She is exploiting these children for profit and Jon is guilty of that too. Imagine how many sick people out there get a rise out of watching those kids. They will have to live in a bubble as they get older.

Jon & Kate Plus 8....6 too many?? Jon is soooo patient and Kate is a control F*R*E*A*K and is constantly yelling at him in public and making him look like a
"2" year old in front of people when in fact he is these children's daddy~! She comes off as a total biache. Sorry as I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she is always correcting him, putting him in his place or Y~E~L~L~I~N~G at him. So sad as he is a REALLY nice guy. Ever try an "Anger Management Class"?
