Since moving we have been church "shopping" most Sundays. The church we have attended most often has good teaching, the worship is decent, and there are ways to get involved. It is a church whose primary goal is to glorify God. We have not plugged ourselves in yet, but we also feel a bit neglected. We have been more than 5 times and only 2 people have approached and introduced themselves to us. I know that some people are not good about approaching new people, and you cannot always talk to everybody, but it seems a bit odd.
We are in "Bible Belt" country, and with a church nearly on every corner, I know there is one that will fit us well. I think it is challenging for us since we have two young ones ( who are not really accustomed to nursery). I am praying that God would give us guidence and that soon we can begin to meet people and get involved so that we might come together with other christians to glorify him together. I ask that you pray this for us as well.

Will certainly be praying for you. It's so hard to find a new church. You know, when I lived in Tenn. (on two occasions) I found it HARDER to find a good church, despite there being one on every corner. This is probably a generalization, but I think in the south it's often more the "thing to do" to go to church, culturally and traditionally, but sometimes the people aren't as dedicated Christians. I know that's a huge generalization, but that was my experience with being in the south during some of my college years. A lot of people I knew went to good evangelical churches, but their life during the week was less than dedicated to the things of the Lord. So it made it hard to sift through who was real and who wasn't (or what church was real and which one's were more fluff).
Anyway, I'll be praying the Lord leads you to the perfect place for your family! And that people will reach out to you.
Oh, I really feel for you. I remember the days of wondering if there'd ever be a more hospitable church than the one we left 10 years ago for doctrinal reasons.
Then we found Chesapeake. Its hallmark is hospitality. Considering hospitality is a biblical word for love, and Jesus says "you'll know they are my disciples by their love" I pray you'll soon find that special church home by walking in and finding it warm and hospitable.
Anne, we have been there! When we first started going to our church here, we had a hard time meeting new people. I think a lot of it was that our church had four services at the time, so no one really knew who was new.
Ted finally got tired of not feeling connected and started volunteering as an usher in an effort to meet people. We also started going to a care group that provided weekly childcare. Ted also joined the worship team. We had to take the initiative and it's paying off. We're starting to building relationships, it's just taken time and work on our part.
